Rocket Girl
Rocket Girl is meant to be a discussion forum to create conversation about road cycling and the people in it. It is geared towards women who ride because I feel that there are a lot of us out there who have no community to support what we do and what we love. Please feel free to share your opinions and comments.
Enjoy,
Jen

Hey Rocketgirl, you rock! Nice jean riding short riding kit! I bumped into you on the bike path yesterday and did not catch your real name? I wanted to invite you to come out to Wheels of Bloor on Friday for the Cervelo demo. Our program is called Eride it’s free and we have a quiver of nice bikes with Zipp wheels, Dura-Ace ect. We will be there noon to eight. Then Sat we will be at Dukes 10-4pm.
Cheers Greg
Keep up the good work on your blog
SHUT UP!!!!!!!!! You found me! Thanks for the compliments on the jean shorts, not my most comfy riding attire, but certainly my most stylish! I will definitely check you guys out on Friday, probably in the evening. Do you have to reserve a bike? if so my name is Jen.. aka RocketGirl. Hope you found your way back last night, without having to go off roading on that sweet ride.
Cheers!
Jen

Would love to join some rides asap. Send me a note when you are heading out.
Will do! It’s still a bit cool out for me (and I need a new back tire
I found some nice gashes on it when I put it on the trainer!) but as soon as I hit the road, I’ll let you know!
Awesome.
Jen,
I really enjoyed the “Building a Solid Base” article and and I found it particularly helpful because I am also training for that same 200 mile event in June. Thanks for the tips.
I’d love to hear if you have any thoughts on a more detailed training schedule.
Hi! i live in nyc and I ride everywhere – I don’t know how people get anything done without a new bike
Until recently I managed to live in nyc without having a bicycle stolen for 30 years
so now it has happened and I need a new bicycle.
so I am asking for your input although you do very different kind of riding
I need a zippy bike (not a 3 spd cruisy bike) for getting around – not usually more than 5 miles at a clip – but I also want something I could used if I wanted to ride 20 miles or so and I want it to be a step-through – also I am 5′ 10″
my local store rec. giant escape 2w 18″ – it seems petite
thanks – appreciate any help. – cheers – ellen
I think they reco’d a great bike, especially if you want a step through. It’ll be durable enough for city riding, and comfortable enough for a longer ride. I would also consider test riding a road bike (something that’s not a step through) especially if you start doing more long rides. Consider checking out Terry bikes, they’re women specific and super nice! http://www.terrybicycles.com/ HMmmm but this is a good quesiton.. let me look around on the web and get back to you
Biking in NYC must be awesome! I’ll have to try it the next time I go!
Chat soon,
Jen
